The most disturbing problems of women are the loosening of the legs, skin fluctuations and irregularities. With the weight gain, weight loss, exercise and aging, loosening in inner legs becomes faster. Inner leg problems can cause aesthetic problems as well as friction while walking and disturb patients. Various treatment methods are available for the inner legs, which are difficult to correct due to their very thin skin structure.Thigh lift surgeries are usually performed for women over 40 years of age. Especially after the weight gain, loosening in inner and upper thighs increases. Some skin types tend to loosen. In such patients the problem may occur at an earlier age. In some patients, the problem is only the loosening of the skin, while others have excess fat. In weak patients with very little skin abundance, excess skin is removed and sutured by stretching in the inner side of the groin. In thigh-stretching operations, the application of this method in patients with excess skin and fattening leads to stretching of the mark downward in time and deform the genitals. For this reason, in most of the patients, excess skin is removed to leave a vertical scar/mark. Before that, liposuction is performed on the inside of the thighs. The vertical incision is placed in a way that the incision will be on the inner side of the leg and it will go from the inner side of the groin to the knees. The mark is not visible when the patient is standing. Thigh lift operations are performed in the operating room and under general anesthesia. Thigh lift takes approximately 1-2 hours.
Thigh stretching operations are not painful. However, in order not to experience any wound problems, patients should restrict their movements for a period of time. Patients are usually sent home on the same day. The first 2 days the bandages applied on the stitches. Two days later patients can take a bath. Since the stitches are all under the skin there is no need to remove them. In the first 3 weeks, the patients should not stand up too often and walk. After the third week, sports are allowed except running. After the sixth week, all kinds of activities are free. When thigh lift is performed with horizontal incisions, problems such as wound dehiscence, prolonged swelling of the legs, the widening of the scars/marks in time may occur. However, the most annoying problem is the deformities that may occur in the vagina. Especially when the patient opens her legs, the scar can open up to the lips of the vagina. For this reason, thigh lift operations with vertical incisions should be preferred. The biggest problem on vertical incisions is scars. Because the scars/marks remain on the inside of the legs, they are not visible from the inside. After 6 months, the scars are largely faded, but they never disappear completely. Patients should be warned about the marks. Some patients get themselves tattooed to cover the marks. After the lifting process, the aging process continues and there is some loosening of the thighs. Weight gain can accelerate this process. But it never returns to its original state. It is important for patients to pay attention to their weight and to have regular sports and skin care in order to protect the results of the operation.
